Cultural Tour of Northern India

Join History Masters John Sauerman and Cara Hyson for an exploration of the history and culture of India. This trip will certainly compliment a number of courses offered in our curriculum, such as the Lawrenceville humanities course as well as comparative religion and philosophy courses.

Students will survey the culture byobserving some of the religions of India, notably Hinduism, the architectural achievements of pre-modern Indian dynasties (Akbar the Magnificent!) as well as historic sites related to the struggle for Indian independence. Walk where Gandhi walked! Students will also experience the challenges and exhilarations of being in the dynamic vortex of 21st century India as they travel to Delhi, Jaipur, Agra and Varanasi. An additional exciting aspect of the trip will be a video project that will enrich The Lawrenceville School’s learning environment long after the adventure is over. Highlights of the trip include seeing the Taj Mahal at dawn, attending the Fire Puja at Dashashwamedh Ghat, and riding elephants!
