French Language Immersion in Angoulême, France

Since 1989, Lawrenceville has sent groups of students to France to afford them the rich experience of a linguistic and cultural immersion second to none. The current four-week program in France is located in the city of Angoulême, in the Charente region about three hundred miles southwest of Paris and one hour north of Bordeaux. Students live with French families for a first-hand experience of everyday life in France. Four days a week, students attend classes in language, culture, composition and grammar at a local school. Classes are taught by local French teachers and the accompanying Lawrenceville faculty. Additionally, students participate in excursions to nearby sites of interest. The group also spends a day and a half in Paris at the end of the program. While students will not receive academic credit for participating in this program, they will receive a written evaluation of their performance.
