International Programs
This trip will take place summer 2012 and will start with a four-day safari in Kruger National Park with the opportunity to see "The Big Five,"(elephants, rhinoceros, water buffalo, lions, and leopards). The trip will continue with 10 days at the Little Switzerland Resort, in the Drakensburg Mountains, which will serve as the base for our community service project.
The community service time will be split between working with infants and toddlers supported by The Langkloof Orphans Fund, and working with secondary school students reviewing for their math exam at Amphasi High School. The work day has students active from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at school, with children, and following lunch opportunities to organize sports activities with the local students. We will return to the school a few late afternoons to hold extra mathematics review sessions. Students will also be expected to spend time outside of the classroom preparing for the next day’s work.
Time away from the school will be mixed with several activities and all day hikes to explore the Little Switzerland property, and for the group to reach the majestic top of the Drakensburg plateau.
