Candidates for admission to The Lawrenceville School should complete the following steps:
Step 1: Complete the Inquiry Form
All prospective students who wish to receive the Prospectus, schedule an interview, receive invitations to events in their home area, and apply to The Lawrenceville School must submit this Inquiry Form.
Step 2: Schedule a Tour and interview
We are currently fully enrolled for the fall of 2013. At this
time, we can no longer encourage any late applications. On a limited
basis we are still considering Post Graduates.
Keep in mind we do reserve our summer appointments for international
candidates and applicants traveling a long distance who cannot visit us
during the school year.
Step 3: Take the appropriate test.
Candidates for grades 9 and 10 must take the SSAT (www.ssat.org). It will be given nationally in November, December, January, and also in February. The December testing date is preferable. Be sure to list the Lawrenceville code (4564) when you register for the test. We only accept test scores directly from SSAT; we do not accept copies from your school or consultant. To prevent delays be sure to list us as a score recipient when you register for your test. We will also accept the ISEE in lieu of the SSAT.

- Postgraduate Candidates
Each year Lawrenceville enrolls new students into the Fifth Form, the majority of whom are postgraduates. In all cases, those accepted are candidates for the Lawrenceville diploma and, as such, must meet all of the School's academic requirements. All candidates must have credit for three years of math (Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry) and two years of a foreign language at the high school level. Placement in academic courses for each Fifth Former is done on the basis of consultations with the Dean of Studies. In order to be eligible for competition on School athletic teams, a student may not turn 19 years of age before September.
- Candidates whose applications are received by January 31 will receive a decision on March 9. Applications will continue to be reviewed on a rolling admission basis until all spaces are full. Students who will turn 19 before September 1 of their enrollment year are not eligible for interscholastic competition.
Step 4: File the Application Online
using the Standard Application Online (SAO), an application service by SSAT. This is the only official Lawrenceville application. The $50 application fee ($100 for international applications) is payable online by Visa or MasterCard. Please also be sure to complete the Lawrenceville Supplement to the application, which becomes available as part of the SAO when a candidate selects Lawrenceville (school code 4564). Please follow all directions for completing the SAO from SSAT. Questions about submitting your application can be directed to apply@ssat.org.
Note: As applications are reviewed, the Admission Committee reserves the right to request any additional information we may need, including but not limited to complete files from schools attended, or we may reach out to communicate directly with an applicant’s school for further insight.
Non-Standard Materials: If you choose to send additional materials that are not required (additional personal recommendations/letters other than from your Math and English teachers, or Principal/Head of School, photographs, artwork, CD/DVDs or other media, or copies of awards/certificates), do not send them to the SSAT Processing Center. Submit these materials electronically in PDF format directly to The Lawrenceville School at admissions@lawrenceville.org.
