Step 1: Inquire

  • Inquire so you may obtain our Viewbook, schedule an interview, receive invitations to events in your area, and apply to The Lawrenceville School!
  • Prospective athletes, please fill out the Athletic Inquiry Form so our coaches can get to know you better.

Step 2: Tours & Interviews

As of January 7 we have allocated all available on campus and skype interview spaces. We look forward to having applicants complete the application process without an interview. After reviewing your application, our admission team will reach out to schedule an interview if we feel that this would be a mutually productive exercise.

Step 3: Testing

  • All testing must be from the current academic year.
  • Candidates for grades 9 and 10 must take the SSAT (www.ssat.org). We only accept test scores directly from SSAT; we do not accept copies from your school or consultant. We also accept the ISEE in lieu of the SSAT.
  • 11th grade candidates may submit the results of the SSAT, PSAT, SAT, or ACT.
  • 12th grade and Post-Graduate candidates may submit results from PSAT, SAT, and ACT.
  • International Applicants: All international applicants must demonstrate proficiency in oral and written English. For applicants whose native language is not English, and whose language of instruction for the most recent four years of schooling has not been English, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required. The Lawrenceville School does not offer a formal ESL program; however, academic support is available for international students on a limited basis.

Candidates for grades 9 and 10 must take the SSAT (www.ssat.org). It will be given nationally in November, December, January, and also in February. The December testing date is preferable. Be sure to list the Lawrenceville code (4564) when you register for the test. We only accept test scores directly from SSAT; we do not accept copies from your school or consultant. To prevent delays be sure to list us as a score recipient when you register for your test. We will also accept the ISEE in lieu of the SSAT.

Step 4: Apply

Lawrenceville accepts two forms of application. CHOOSE ONE:

  1. Lawrenceville Online Application: Complete your entire Lawrenceville application online.
  2. SSAT Standard Application On Line (SAO) : Applicants applying to multiple schools may want to consider applying through the SSAT SAO. After we receive notice that you have begun the application process using the SAO, we will forward instructions to create your Lawrenceville Application portal, through which you can track the status of your application and receive your admission decision.

Please note: If you apply with the Lawrenceville Online Application through our Application Portal, it is imperative that you DO NOT submit an application to Lawrenceville through the Standard Application Online (SAO) from the Secondary School Admission Test Board (SSATB). Submitting multiple applications will delay the processing of your application.

  • Please contact our office to request an application fee waiver
