Candidates for admission to The Lawrenceville School should complete the following steps:

Step 1: Complete the on-line Inquiry Form. Request a Prospectus on-line with the SSAT Inquiry Form. This link will take you to the SSAT website. Create or use your SSAT Web Login ID to sign in. Your Web Login ID will create an account for you to request a Prospectus, register for the test, and file your Lawrenceville application. The Inquiry Form must be completed prior to scheduling an interview appointment.

Step 2: Schedule a Tour and Interview on campus any time from September to January 30. You may check our online calendar for our visit schedule and black out dates.
The deadline for scheduling an interview has passed; therefore, we will waive the interview requirement. After the admission committee reviews your application, they may contact you for additional information.

Step 3: Take the appropriate test.
Candidates for grades 9 and 10 must take the SSAT (www.ssat.org). It will be given nationally in November, December, January, and also in February. The December testing date is preferable. Be sure to list the Lawrenceville code (4564) when you register for the test. We only accept test scores directly from SSAT; we do not accept copies from your school or consultant. To prevent delays be sure to list us as a score recipient when you register for your test. We will also accept the ISEE in lieu of the SSAT.
  • Candidates for 11th grade may submit the results of the PSAT or the SSAT. We do accept copies of these scores.
  • Candidates for 12th grade and Post-Graduate year may submit results from either the PSAT, the SAT, or the ACT. We do accept copies of these scores.
  • 12th Grade and Postgraduate Candidates Only. Candidates whose applications are received by January 30 receive a decision on March 10. Applications will continue to be reviewed on a rolling admission basis until all spaces are full. Students who will turn 19 before September 1 of their enrollment year are not eligible for interscholastic competition.

Step 4: File the Application On-line using SSAT’s common application with the $50 application fee ($100 for international applications). To begin the process, visit www.ssat.org. Payment options include MasterCard and Visa. Lawrenceville now uses the SSAT common on-line application. This is the only official Lawrenceville application. A printed paper version of the application no longer exists. Please be sure to complete the Lawrenceville Supplement which is available from the SSAT common on-line application web site. An option to complete the Lawrenceville Supplement will occur when a candidate selects Lawrenceville (school code 4564). Please follow all directions for completing the SSAT common on-line application. Questions about submitting your on-line application can be directed to apply@ssat.org.

Note: The School reserves the right to request additional information, including complete files from schools attended.

Non-Standard Materials: If you choose to send additional materials that are not required such as, personal recommendations (other than Math, English and Principal/Head), photographs, artwork, CD/DVDs, or other media, copies of awards/certificates, do not send them to the SSAT Processing Center. Submit these or similar materials directly to The Lawrenceville School.
