America Secondary Schools for International Students and Teachers (ASSIST) Scholar
The vision of ASSIST is to promote mutual understanding, cultural interchange and a more peaceful world. ASSIST provides opportunities for outstanding international students to attend The Lawrenceville School on a one-year scholarship. Awarded to a student entering the fourth form (11th grade) from Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Moldova or Slovakia. Craig M. Lucas ’81 Scholarship
Established in 2007 by a gift from Craig M. Lucas of the Class of 1981, this scholarship provides tuition for an incoming Jewish student who has demonstrated leadership and service within their community. The Lawrenceville Admissions Committee will select a recipient from the applicant pool. For further information contact the Lawrenceville Admissions office.
Davis Scholars
Established in 2008, this scholarship is awarded to candidates for the third, fourth, and fifth forms and Post Graduate Program. The Davis Scholars receive need based financial aid jointly funded by the school and the Davis Family Foundation. Upon graduation, the Davis Scholars may receive up to $20,000 a year toward college tuition provided they choose to continue their studies at one of over 75 United World Colleges.
Each year 2 students will be selected. The Lawrenceville Admissions Committee selects the Davis Scholars from Lawrenceville’s existing applicant pool. For further information contact the Lawrenceville Admissions office.
Davis-Dow Scholars
Established in 2007 by a gift from an anonymous donor; provides financial aid to underrepresented groups, particularly Hispanic and Latino students. The Lawrenceville Admissions Committee selects the Davis-Dow Scholars from Lawrenceville’s existing applicant pool. For further information contact the Lawrenceville Admissions office.
Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation Fund
Established in 1986 by a gift from the Directors of the Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation of Akron, Ohio to support a student from Sweden who has been selected by the Swedish American Foundation. The scholarship includes tuition, room and board, travel and book expenses.
The Sweden-America Foundation was established in June 1919 at the initiative of a group of prominent scientists, business leaders and molders of public opinion. The objectives for the Foundations are to "work for the development of a relationship between Sweden, on the one hand, and the United States and Canada, on the other, by promoting the exchange of scientific, cultural, and practical experiences through presenting fellowships to young men and women.” Interested candidates should visit http://www.sweamfo.se/ for more information.
Gary T. Capen ’54 Scholarship Fund
Established in 2003/2004 by Gary T. Capen ’54 for the purpose of supporting a
Lawrenceville student admitted through the Secondary School Exchange Program
(SSE) of the English Speaking Union (ESU).
The English-Speaking Union is an international charity founded in 1918 to promote "international understanding and friendship through the use of the English language." This scholarship is awarded to a student from a member school of the English Speaking Union who has already earned a high school diploma. The scholarship covers the cost of tuition, board and lodging. Students must have taken A-levels or the equivalent and be intending to study at a UK university on their return. Muslim Scholar
Established in 1989, this scholarship is awarded to a member of the Islamic faith from an Arabic culture. The scholarship is offered to Post Graduates who have already earned a high school diploma. The scholarship includes tuition, room and board, travel, book expenses, SAT tutoring, and a personal computer for the student to keep. Northern Ireland Scholarship Program
Established in 1998 by Kathleen (Katie) McMahon ’92. This scholarship is awarded to two students from Northern Ireland; the scholarships are awarded to Post Graduates who have already earned a high school diploma. Thai Scholar
Awarded to a student from Thailand who has been selected by the Royal Thai Scholars program, this program is administered and funded by the Royal Thai Scholars. In 1897 King Rama V of Thailand formally and systematically created the King's Scholarship program to gather western skills and knowledge appropriate for the development of his nation. The Civil Service Commission of the Royal Thai government administers nation-wide, highly competitive exams. The results of these tests determine who will be awarded the scholarships offered for that year. All graduating high school students who have achieved an A average are eligible to take the exams. The students choose which scholarships they seek at the time they take the test. Based upon the results of the exam and an interview for the highest-ranking candidates, the Scholars are selected. The West Point Preparatory Scholarship Program (WPPSP)
The purpose of the West Point Preparatory Scholarship Program is to provide partial scholarships for one year of post-secondary school education at preparatory schools and colleges for carefully selected and highly motivated young people seeking admission to the United States Military Academy. Awarded to a Post Graduate student who has completed a candidate file with the USMA Admissions Office and achieved a satisfactory score on the Physical Aptitude Examination (PAE). Merit Scholarships
Although the School does not provide non-need-based grants of financial aid as inducements to matriculation, there are at any given time, three returning students enjoying significant financial aid grants, not dependent on family need. These are rewards for excellence in academic and extracurricular affairs, as well as exemplary character; they are awarded to returning students based on their records at Lawrenceville.
