Glenn Hutchins ’73 Honored for “Breaking Barriers”

Lawrenceville Trustee Emeritus Glenn Hutchins ’73 has been honored with the Breaking Barriers Award by the Reverend Al Sharpton’s National Action Network in recognition of his “significant contributions to the betterment of social justice and human rights.”

Hutchins is co-founder of Silver Lake Partners, a leading private equity firm specializing in technology and technology-enabled companies and is chairman of the National Advisory Board of the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research at Harvard University. He is also an active and dedicated Lawrentian, a former class agent and co-chair of the recent Bicentennial Campaign. With his wife, Debbie, Glenn has underwritten the Hutchins Scholars Program, which funds advanced laboratory experiences and instruction for Lawrenceville’s most talented science students, including the provision of financial aid.

    Rumor has it that there was a “one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater” in The Bowl Wednesday afternoon – allegedly dancing the “Monster Mash” (we heard it was a smash). Or it may have been the Lawrenceville’s annual Halloween Party, served up for local children who participate in the School’s community service program. “(The party) is a great opportunity to let these kids have a fun time and to get in the spirit of the holiday,” said Emily Matcham ‘20

  • Nov. 1-2: Visiting Artist Tom Dunne

    Lawrenceville will welcome visiting artist Tom Dunne to campus November 1-2. Dunne, a noted wood turning artisan, will demonstrate his craft for current members of the School community throughout the day on November 2 in the courtyard of the Gruss Center of Visual Arts (weather permitting). All are invited to attend his talk on November 1, 7:00 p.m., in the Woods Memorial Hall Heely Room.

  • Girls’ Cross Country Wins State Championship

    Lawrenceville’s girls’ cross country team beat their closest competition by more than 30 points yesterday to win the Prep A State Championship. “The win today was the result of a true team effort-every girl raced from the moment the gun went off until the moment they crossed the finish line,” said head coach Melissa Clore.

  • Girls’ Varsity Tennis Ready for MAPL Tournament

    Coming off a dominating victory at the NJISAA tournament and boasting a 12-0 record, Lawrenceville’s girls’ varsity tennis team is ready to win the MAPL tournament on Oct. 29. Competition begins at 11:00 a.m. on the Lehigh University Ulrich Tennis Courts. Fifth Formers Julia Dinmore, Sydney Friedland, and Hannah Hwa provided their insight on how they were preparing for their upcoming tournament.

  • Oct. 28-29: Garden State Boys’ Varsity WaPo Invitational @ Lawrenceville

    On Oct. 28-29, Lawrenceville will host the Garden State Boys’ Varsity Water Polo Invitational Tournament, to be held in the School’s Lavino Field House. Big Red will compete against teams from the Pennington School, Saint Benedict’s Preparatory School, St. Peter’s Preparatory School, and Pingry. Matches begin at 4:00 p.m. on Oct. 28, with Lawrenceville facing off against Pennington.
