Students Honored for Academic & Athletic Excellence

Posted: February 6, 2013

Five Lawrentians have been honored for their academic and athletic excellence.

Matt Apuzzi '14 gained top honors at the Mercer County High School Wrestling Championship earlier this month. Apuzzi pinned his opponent (in the 195 lbs. division) in a mere 1:54. He was selected as the tournament's "Outstanding Wrestler" by the Trentonian and by the coaches representing the 16 teams that participated in the tournament.

Fifth Formers Lauren Eckhardt, Sophie Epstein, and Julia Minnetian have earned spots on the 2012 Gladiator by SGI / National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) High School National Academic Squad. The Squad program recognizes those high school seniors who have achieved a cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0 or the equivalent through the first quarter of the 2012-13 school year.

Ice hockey standout Emily Kreuger '13 was named this week's "Female Athlete of the Week" by the Trenton Times. Krueger skates at center for Big Red.

  • Big Red Honors Alumni with New Crew Shells

    Posted April 27, 2016

Lawrenceville lost its races against Connecticut’s Kent School earlier that morning, but you’d never know it from the demeanor of the boys’ and girls’ crews. Having changed into blazers and ties for the boys and classic black dresses for the girls, the Big Red rowers clearly regarded this as a formal and festive occasion. Indeed, Head Master Steve Murray H’55 ’65 P’16, Athletic Director Tripp Welborne, School Chaplain Sue Anne Steffey Morrow H’12, and two former Olympic gold medalists were on hand to help dedicate two new crew shells – Vespoli eights – generously funded by two anonymous Lawrenceville donors.
