For two weeks each summer, beginning in mid-June, 75 teachers in the beginning years of their careers gather for intensive study with master teachers and prominent leaders in education. They read and discuss seminal articles, listen to educational leaders, and work with colleagues and master teachers on projects that relate directly to their own teaching.

Fully grant supported, the Klingenstein Summer Institute award covers tuition and room and board for all those selected to attend. Participants’ schools are asked to cover the cost of round-trip transportation to The Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Teachers College, Columbia University awards four graduate points for successful completion of this program. Independent elementary, middle and secondary school teachers who have two to five years of teaching experience in a school with a nondiscriminatory admissions policy are eligible to apply.
