The Lawrenceville School believes in giving the best possible care to the student athlete. Through support of the school and alumni, the Athletic Training Room has evolved into one of the best secondary school facilities in the country. The Athletic Training Room is over 1200 square feet in size and contains state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment. This room allows for injured athletes to perform their rehabilitation exercises with comfort and ease. The athletic training room is also large enough to hold the student athletic training classes. The room is perfectly located on the lower level of the Lavino Fieldhouse with easy access from the outside, all indoor facilities and the hockey rink.
The athletic trainer has many options when creating a rehabilitation program for the injured athlete. The modalities include: six different electrical stimulation currents, whirlpool, ultrasound, hydrocollators for moist heat, hemaflo2, cryocuffs and ice.
The rehabilitation equipment at the athletic trainers disposal includes: a cybex, multiaxial ankle machine, ankle weights, hand weights, baps board, slide board, resistive tubing, step-up board, stationary bikes, swiss balls, medicine balls as well as a complete set of nautilus and universal machines neighboring in the weight room. The weight room is also equipped with a variety of cardiovascular machines that are beneficial for those athletes who have sustained an injury and cannot participate in any running activities.
For those athletes that are concerned about weight control, the athletic trainers are equiped with skinfold calipers and computer programs to measure the athlete's percent body fat. There is also a consulting nutritionist that is available to all students.
