Ready to Learn. Ready for Life.
A Lawrenceville graduate is ready. Ready to embrace higher education and engage in the professional world; to create cultures of belonging; to enter any conversation with confidence and an open mind.
Students come to Lawrenceville with their own stories and lenses. When they are generous with themselves, they enrich the lives of their classmates who, in turn, add to their understanding of the world.
This is the foundation of HARKNESS LEARNING, a collaborative form of learning that encourages intellectual effort and social-emotional learning through discussion, experimentation, and critical review.
Because students experience all aspects of life within the community, they come to understand academics as a natural and necessary part of life. Just as they need nourishment and social interaction, they also need academic enrichment in order to grow.
This disposition motivates students to fully engage so they can not only gain the knowledge they need to progress in their chosen field, but the learning strategies they need to be fully ready for college.
Beyond the Classroom
While the Harkness table is the cornerstone of learning at Lawrenceville, there are many opportunities for students to apply and expand their knowledge beyond the classroom. These include cultural experiences, hands-on activities, research and innovation, and travel opportunities.
Bunn Library
Bunn Library is a community hub of learning and exploration. An extension of the House and the classroom, Bunn Library is a welcoming place to gather that supports the intellectual, social, and creative pursuits of our students.
College Counseling
Lawrenceville's college counseling program is designed to be an extension of the active learning that takes place each day in the classroom around the Harkness table, in the Houses, on the athletic fields, and throughout campus.
The Hutchins Institute for Social Justice
The Hutchins Institute for Social Justice is an innovation in secondary education. Functioning primarily as an academic hub, the Hutchins Institute seeks to engage social justice as a subject of study, a method of analysis, and a standard of ethics through scholarship, programming, and experiential learning.

Our Home
The Lawrenceville School sits on more than 700 acres in suburban New Jersey. A mix of natural beauty, modern technology, and traditional brick buildings brings us together and serves our needs as a community. In addition to our physical home, we develop and foster a global community through robust and meaningful alumni engagement.
