Costa Rica
Service and Adventure
Roll up your sleeves for a service-learning project while experiencing a homestay, rich culture, beautiful landscape and many adventures.
Community service and engagement is about more than giving back. It’s about connecting unique people and cultures by working side-by-side with local communities, collaborating as a team, and reflecting on social issues.
On this program, Lawrentians will immerse themselves in local Costa Rican community homestays while engaging in meaningful service-learning activities and projects that contribute to four WorldStrides cornerstones: community enrichment and infrastructure; education and literacy; environment and conservation; and nutrition and health. They will discover biodiversity in Carara National Park and appreciate the beauty of Manuel Antonio National Park’s sandy beaches, lush tropical rainforest, and wildlife. The program will also feature tours of the Doka Coffee Plantation, a dance lesson and a cooking class, a zip line tour, and a white water rafting excursion.
