Dates in June TBD
This relationship is almost completely funded by Keio, the host school, and is offered to our students at a reduced cost with expenses related to travel insurance and vaccination/immunization needs. Only two students can participate each year and they must complete the general Harkness Travel Program survey, as well as a specific Keio program application. Students who are selected agree to host their Japanese counterpart in their School House room or home if they are a day student. If other arrangements need to be made for the visitors housing, selected students will still play a major role in hosting.
Please note that this trip is not chaperoned by a Lawrenceville faculty member; the selected students must travel together to Japan from Newark International Airport, without a Lawrenceville Program Leader, to meet the program supervisor in Japan, and their host families. The Keio school will be purchasing the airline tickets using Newark as the U.S. destination airport; deviations will not be permitted and students are responsible for getting themselves to Newark on their own and at their own cost. Our students will stay with the same Keio students who will visit Lawrenceville arriving on campus January 25, and will attend the Japanese school for two weeks. They will visit local attractions with their host families on the weekends.
Lawrenceville host dates for the two Japanese students will be from Saturday, January 25 through Saturday, February 8, 2020, concluding the Winter Gathering Weekend. The Lawrenceville students and host families must commit to this responsibility for the entire time period of the exchange.
