5 Questions 4 Melissa Clore

What is the most frequently played song on the playlist of Mathematics Department Chair Melissa Clore? What’s making her laugh these days? All this and more in 5 Questions 4!

Best pandemic comfort food?
The Smash Burger at Acacia!  We have been regulars since the pandemic started!  A treat from The Gingered Peach never hurts either!

If you could travel back to February 2020, what advice would you give your current self?
Don't take for granted the seemingly routine aspects of day to day life. So much about our lives has changed since February and I find myself missing the little things and big things alike. If I could go back, I would soak up those last fully “normal” in-person classes with my students just a little bit more. In particular, I missed seeing them at the boards huddled together as they tackle a challenging problem. Similarly, I would have tried to soak up just a little bit more knowledge from [recently retired mathematics teachers] Tim Brown, Daren Starnes, and John Millar.

What never fails to make you laugh?
My kids! Tommy is three and Evelyn is one. They have definitely helped me keep things in perspective these last eight months and time with them always reminds me to stop and enjoy the little things in life. The other night we gave Evelyn a Kit-Kat from her Trick-or-Treat bucket and she said, “Oh, baby!”

Most frequently played song on your playlist?
The songs from the “Trolls” soundtrack. Both my son and daughter love to dance to this music!

What have you binge watched?
“Life in Pieces.”  We recently found it on Amazon Prime and it’s always good for a laugh!
