A New Model for AI Emerges at Lawrenceville — Built for and with Students

At the 2025 National Association of Independent Schools Symposium on AI and the Future of Learning, The Lawrenceville School shared how it is reimagining AI through a Campus Service-Based Model — an approach that empowers students to design practical, mission-aligned AI solutions that strengthen both learning and operations.

Presenters Jennifer Parnell, director of innovation and AI projects, and Marquis Scott, assistant head of school, highlighted Lawrenceville’s evolution from early exploratory projects to a sustainable, community-driven AI ecosystem supported by student leadership, cross-disciplinary governance, and external partnerships. Student-created tools -- ranging from AI-powered course search and personalized tour-matching to financial literacy platforms and digital workflow systems -- demonstrate how authentic campus needs can become meaningful opportunities for innovation.
