DEI “Call to Action” Sessions & Initiatives Announced

Lawrenceville’s Dean of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement Rick Holifield sent an email to School alumni, current students/families, and employees today, inviting them to a series of virtual Call to Action sessions happening throughout the month of August.

In advance of the sessions, Holifield encourages community members to submit questions or contributions to dei@lawrenceville.org concerning Lawrenceville’s path forward on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). In addition to addressing this feedback, Holifield and Head of School Steve Murray will discuss the following topics during the Call to Action sessions: DEI education/leadership training for faculty, staff, and Trustees; a new partnership with the Anti-Defamation League; the appointment of three diversity coordinators, and ongoing DEI strategic planning.

“As we prepare for the community’s arrival to campus in September, I am reminded of one of our greatest aims: to build what the late Congressman John Lewis called a ‘Beloved Community,’” Holifield wrote. “Our diversity, equity, and inclusion imperative must remain at the forefront of our work as an institution, as it is mission-appropriate and central to achieving the goal of a just and fair community.”
