Lawrenceville Celebrates Cum Laude Students

Last evening, Lawrenceville celebrated members of the Class of 2021 whose superior academic achievement earned them a place in the School’s Cum Laude chapter, the high school equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa.

Both Head of School Steve Murray and History teacher Cara Hyson spoke to the honorees, each congratulating the students for their academic excellence under unprecedented circumstances.  Hyson offered the Lawrentians three life lessons. First, “Sometimes, you just need to keep your head down, put one foot after the other, and keep a steady pace. Don’t look too far ahead and you’ll get where you want to go.” Second, “Never count out the last person picked. They may surprise you.” Third, “When facing formidable odds, or what seems like an unattainable goal, you just have to dig deep inside, give it everything you’ve got, and you just don’t know what can happen.”
