Lawrenceville’s food service provider, Sustainable Fair, received a Certificate of Support for its purchases of locally grown food for the School’s dining halls. Last year, Sustainable Fare bought 22,349 pounds of local food, supporting 21 local farms. The certificate was presented by The Common Market, mid-Atlantic region.
“As one of the first customers of The Common Market our relationship has been an important connection that has allowed us to create a true partner that provides clear local farmer identity and growing practices we can count on,” said Gary Giberson, owner of Sustainable Fare.
According to The Common Market, committing to local farms:
Prioritizes fresh, high-quality, unprocessed options for Lawrentians.
Supports local farms, which helps to preserve farmland and represents a vote for climate-smart and regenerative practices.
Supports small businesses and keeps money in our region. This helps to create jobs and stimulate economic growth locally.
Deepens our community’s connection to the source of our meals, which fosters a deeper appreciation for the hard work, dedication, and the people behind our food.
