Lawrenceville Launches Community Conversations

Earlier today, The Lawrenceville School announced a series of Community Conversations to provide a dedicated space for students to process current events both within and outside Lawrenceville – “events that weigh on the mind and spirit and that leave us seeking support and solace,” said associate dean of students Emilie Kosoff. The first of these gatherings will take place this week and focus on LGBTQ+ issues as part of the School's Pride Week.

Faculty and staff will also be offered dedicated spaces beginning this week, as well as important reminders about the Employee Assistance Program, a free, School-sponsored counseling and referral program for personal, family, and work related issues.

Over the summer, the Office of Multicultural Affairs will lead planning sessions with students, faculty, and the deans to formalize the Community Conversations program for the 2021-22 academic year, aiming to provide enhanced opportunities for both emotional processing and education.

“As Lawrentians, we can gather together, we can be upstanders, we can hear one another’s stories and practice deep, empathetic listening,” said Kosoff. “We can engage in action-oriented change.”
