Lawrenceville Merrill Scholars Announced

Congratulations to Lawrenceville’s third cohort of Merrill Scholars, Fourth Formers Mary Rose Beeken, Giancarlo Beritela, Kelsie Choi, Phillip Park, Summer Qureshi, Ava Sutter, Quinn Thierfelder, and Sara Xu.

The Merrill Scholars Program allows rising Fifth Formers to conduct archival research in the Humanities and to tie that to their own creative writing over the summer. Scholars develop a prospectus, a research plan, and conduct intensive investigations into secondary scholarship as well, bolstered by rare books and collections at Princeton University and The Morgan Library (New York City). The program is directed by English teacher Marta Napiorkowska.

Scholars build upon their summer work in the fall trimester, taking the English department’s "Advanced Literary Research" elective to continue their work. Their goal is to complete a 20-25 page paper based on their findings that adds to the national, and even international, conversation about their respective literary texts, writers, or movements.
