Lawrentians Present Research at Fall Academic Showcase

Lawrentians lit up the Kirby Math and Science Center last week with poster presentations on their research covering everything from literature to history, ecology to medicine, and more. If you wanted to know if Shakespeare plagiarized Ovid, ways to improve the health of local creeks, how to edit Drosophila genes, the role of gender during World War II combat, or methods to redesign a traditional Thai shrine, Lawrentians had the answers. It was also a great chance for students to learn more about Lawrenceville Scholar programs from the Scholars themselves.

The more than two dozen presentations were provided by students in independent study classes and the Design for Social change course as well as Lawrenceville’s Heely Scholars in Archival and Historical Research, Hutchins Scholars in Science Research, Leopold Scholars in Ecology and Ethics, Merrill Scholars in Literary Research and Creative Writing, and Restoration Ecology interns.
