Lawrentians Unite to Address Current Events

This week, Lawrentians gathered to engage in emotional support around recent traumatic and tragic events. On April 14, students and faculty came together to share thoughts, feelings, and perspectives concerning the police shooting of Daunte Wright and tonight, Lawrenceville’s student-led “Let’s Talk about It” meeting will address adolescent mental health issues with staff psychologist Tonita Balcom.

In a School Meeting address and community-wide email on April 14, head of School Steve Murray said, “Our strength as a community is most apparent during such moments of tragedy when we draw together and show each other care and empathy. It is my hope that your colleagues and peers are a source of strength and support through times of personal and societal challenge, and that campus offers a sense of comfort and belonging. At the same time, these are also moments to demonstrate our resolute determination to stand as one in opposition to injustice and oppression.”
