Alexander Pesendorfer ‘20 Wins Sharp Translation Prize

Alexander Pesendorfer ‘20 has won Lawrenceville’s 2018-19 Sharp Translation Prize. The competition, created at both Dartmouth College and the Lawrenceville School, honors Tom Sharp, a long time Spanish master, gifted musician and painter, who died in 1998.

Students in this year’s Honor Spanish class translated the opening passage of María Dueñas latest novel, "Las hijas del Capitán" into English. According to Spanish Master Alison Stewart, “Alexander's skills and felicitous turn of phrase established his as the winning version as judged by Lawrenceville's Spanish Masters.”

In addition to a monetary prize, Pesendorfer receives a copy of the most recent novel of this bestselling author, most recognized for her work made into a Netflix series, "The Time in Between" or "El tiempo entre costuras."
