Lawrenceville Presents: “Sweeney Todd”

The bloodthirsty barber of Fleet Street is coming to campus! Lawrenceville is pleased to present “Sweeney Todd,” October 17-18 in the Kirby Arts Center, beginning each evening at 7:30 p.m. No tickets necessary to see what promises to be an extraordinary production of this Tony award-winning musical.
“This brilliant and complicated Sondheim piece is a wonderful challenge for our vocal and instrumental music programs, which says a lot for the sophistication and evolution of those two disciplines in the Performing Arts Department,” said Theatre Director Chris Cull.
Cull noted that the School’s annual musical is “a culminating artistic experience for Fifth Formers who have practiced so hard for so long, the project is chosen with that cohort in mind: to give as many students a challenging and compelling educational experience as possible.”
Behind the scenes of “Sweeney Todd,” students involved in the production will see adults collaborating across disciplines, a model Cull expects they will “then emulate in their own student-run Winterfest Theatre and Spring Dance Concert projects. This is what always makes the project so exciting.”
