Mellor Selected as Finalist in Presidential Teaching Awards

Science Master Julie Mellor is New Jersey’s state-level finalist in the 2019 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science (PAEMST) competition. Mellor is one of three New Jersey Finalists in the Science category. As a State Finalist, her name has been submitted to the National Science Foundation for a national review, then the White House, which will make the selection of National State Awardees.
“I was shocked [to be named a state finalist] since New Jersey has so many science teachers,” said Mellor. “It was very exciting to hear the news and I’m so excited to represent Lawrenceville since this is the place that has shaped me as a teacher.”
PAMEST, established by Congress in 1983, are the highest honors bestowed by the U.S. government specifically for K-12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics and/or computer science teaching.
