In addition to on campus interviews, we often conduct interviews while we are traveling. Visit our Travel Schedule to see if we will be in your area. If so, please email the designated admission counselor who will be representing Lawrenceville on the trip.

Alumni or Skype interviews are also available. Please fill out one of the forms below to request an off campus interview:

Requests for Alumni or Skype interviews must be made by December 1st.
  • Step 3: Testing

    • All testing must be from the current academic year.
    • To guarantee a March 10 admission decision, you must take the SSAT between August 2016 and January 2017. Please let the Admission Office know if you've had to delay testing beyond January.
    • Candidates for grades 9 and 10 must take the SSAT* (www.ssat.org) or ISEE. We only accept test scores directly from the testing organization; we do not accept copies from your school or consultant.
    • 11th grade candidates may submit the results of the SSAT, PSAT, SAT, or ACT.
    • 12th grade and Post-Graduate candidates may submit results from PSAT, SAT, and ACT.
    • International Applicants: All international applicants must demonstrate proficiency in oral and written English. For applicants whose native language is not English, and whose language of instruction for the most recent four years of schooling has not been English, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required. The Lawrenceville School does not offer a formal ESL program; however, academic support is available for international students on a limited basis.
*The SSAT test is typically given several times throughout the application year per the schedule listed on the SSAT website. The test itself may be taken more than once and all of the scores will be accepted. We recommend candidates sign up for either the November or December test date, thereby leaving January as an additional option if needed. Be sure to list the Lawrenceville code (4564) when you register for the test. To prevent delays be sure to list us as a score recipient when you register for your test.

  • Step 4: Apply

Lawrenceville accepts two forms of application. Both applications are accepted without bias. Please note that Lawrenceville does not accept the Gateway application.

    Choose One:
    1. Lawrenceville Online Application: Complete your entire Lawrenceville application online.
    2. SSAT Standard Application Online (SAO) : Applicants applying to multiple schools may want to consider applying through the SSAT SAO. After we receive notice that you have begun the application process using the SAO, we will forward instructions to create your Lawrenceville Application portal, through which you can track the status of your application and receive your admission decision.
Please note: If you apply with the Lawrenceville Online Application through our Application Portal, it is imperative that you DO NOT submit an application to Lawrenceville through the SSAT Standard Application Online (SAO). Submitting multiple applications will delay the processing of your application.

    Application Fee
    • $50 for domestic applicants
    • $100 for international candidates
    • Please contact our office to request an application fee waiver

    Supplemental Materials
We encourage you to use our Athletic Inquiry Form or Art Inquiry Form to submit supplemental materials pertaining to those interests—otherwise, please submit any supplemental materials by emailing PDF files or HTML links to publicly available sites (i.e. YouTube) to supplementalmaterials@lawrenceville.org. Please include the applicant's full name and a brief description of the file (eg. John Smith-artwork.pdf). If we feel the submitted material adds value to your application, it will be added to your file.

    Examples of supplemental pieces are:
    • Personal Recommendations
    • Artwork
    • Videos (via link)
Please know that most applicants do not submit any supplemental materials. The application provides the Admission Committee with the information for the basis of the admission decision. We can only accept PDF attachments or links to publicly available sites. Materials submitted in any other format will not be reviewed as part of the application process.

Optional: The Enrollment Management Association's Character Skills Assessment (CSA) Pilot Program
The Lawrenceville School is proud to be taking part in The Enrollment Management Association's Character Skills Assessment (CSA) Pilot Program. Traits like teamwork, empathy, and integrity are a sign of values and character in action and part of what independent schools are looking for in your child. This test is in the developmental stages and is not used as part of your admission process. When completed you will not receive a score on the CSA and we will not see your results, but your participation will serve as a crucial part of the test's development. To learn more please visit: CSA Pilot Program.
