Boys’ Varsity & Big Red Alumni Ice Hockey Games on Jan. 26

If you love Lawrenceville ice hockey, mark Jan. 26 on your calendar today. Big Red ice hockey stars – past and present – will lace up their skates for two games at the Loucks Ice Hockey Center. The current boys’ varsity team faces off against Albany Academy at 1:00 p.m. Lawrenceville’s annual Alumni Hockey Game, a friendly matchup between Big Red ice hockey veterans, starts at 3:45 p.m.

While not always annual, the Alumni Game has been played for decades. Over 50 former Big Red ice hockey players suited up for the last match in 2017, including graduates from as far back as the 1950s. Game organizer Charlie Gerbron ’99 is hoping even more will join the fun in 2019. All alumni of Lawrenceville’s boys’ ice hockey program are encouraged to play – please email Gerbron at CGerbron@macelree.com to sign up.

“This is a great opportunity for younger and older players to get to know each other and for the alumni to come together to support Lawrenceville hockey,” commented Gerbron.

The varsity team is currently 7-4, with seven upcoming games before January 26.

January 9, home, vs. Portledge School, 4:00 p.m.
January 12, home, vs. Portsmouth Abbey, 1:00 p.m.
