The goal of Lawrenceville Summer Scholars is to provide an educational summer program that produces innovative leaders, breakthrough thinkers, and imaginative problem solvers.

Experiencing Lawrenceville’s House system and Harkness pedagogy, students learn in powerful new ways, engage in active inquiry, and develop a life­long commitment to personal, environmental, and community responsibility.

Harkness Scholars
A Workshop for Practitioners

This weekend workshop is designed to equip you with the tools, experience, and approach necessary to successfully implement the Harkness pedagogy in your classroom.

Harkness Scholars operates within the Lawrenceville Summer Scholars program and the faculty include teaching Masters from The Lawrenceville School.

Harkness Teaching I: Feedback Facilitating Breakthroughs / Scoring Student Citizenship
Harkness in Action II:Students Assessing Their Own Participation
Evening Outing/s (7-10pm)

Sunday (tentative)

Harkness Teaching II: Designing Learning Around Collective Critical Inquiry
Harkness in Action III: Students Conferring to Construct Complex Understanding
Concluding Discussion (dismiss at noon)
