Public Safety

The School’s strategic approach to security planning integrates training, policy development, physical security, safety drills, technology, and coordination with local first responders. Officers are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Lawrenceville School is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment through the cooperative effort of the entire school community.

Public Safety Officers perform evening House safety checks, attend campus events, and welcome and direct visitors to campus. The department implements and continually assesses technologies to support the safety and security of the School.

Academic and residential campus buildings feature secure access; students, faculty, and staff have photo ID cards and electronic fobs that give them access to specific buildings. Campus gates are closed overnight and the main entrance to the School is attended by an officer.

We routinely conduct emergency response drills and trainings with students, faculty, and staff, and have an emergency notification system that is tested regularly. Our weather monitoring system is able to detect potential threats across campus, and notify students in the event of severe weather.
