Jess Magnuson began Lawrenceville coaching career in 2014 as head coach of the Big Red girls’ varsity soccer team. She also teaches Third and Fourth Form English, and assists with coaching the School’s varsity softball team.
Magnuson attended St. Olaf College (Northfield, Minn.) where she competed in soccer, ice hockey, and softball at the NCAA Division III level. In each sport, she earned a starting role and achieved either First Team All-MIAC or All-MIAC Honorable Mention accolades. In soccer, she was a starting striker, earned team and league honors, and was elected captain of her squad at the end of her junior season. In addition to her contributions on the field, she was involved with the Student Athletic Advisory Board and served in various roles with community service projects.
After her playing career, Magnuson began teaching and coaching at the Canterbury School (New Milford, Conn.) from 2010-2014, where she taught English, coached soccer, ice hockey, and softball, and lived in a dorm. She served as the head girls’ varsity soccer coach, where her team competed against some of the top soccer programs in New England.
