Chris Hyson came to Lawrenceville in 2007 after serving as the Boys’ Head Cross Country Coach for ten years at The Canterbury School in New Milford, CT. In addition to his head coaching duties, Hyson teaches English, served as the Davison Housemaster for ten years, and is the Boys’ Varsity Basketball Assistant Coach. His wife, Cara, also teaches in the History department and they are the parents of two Lawrenceville graduates in “14 ‘16.
Chris teamed with legendary Coach Ed Poreda from 2007-16. Over the years, Lawrenceville Cross Country has been a prominent team in New Jersey winning numerous MAPL, NJISAA, and Mercer Country Championships as well as producing some excellent individual runners who have gone on to have a lot of success at the college level.
Coach Hyson continues to run when he can and has completed eleven marathons including Boston, New York, and Philadelphia.
