In 2016, Grey Simpson joined the Lawrenceville community after spending a number of years at the Hill School. Simpson was a member of his high school varsity basketball team earning all- league honors, but ultimately chose to play college football. Upon arriving at Lawrenceville, Simpson was immediately immersed as a coach, aiding the boys’ football team as the defensive coordinator. The 2018-19 season is Simpson’s first season at the helm of the girls’ varsity basketball team. He brings a great deal of experience and expertise to the position having coached a total of 12 years at the high school level. He spent five years as a head coach for both the boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball programs at Archbishop McCarthy High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida before heading to the Hill School to become the girls’ varsity program head for 7 years. Simpson remains the programs all-time wins leader by a head coach at the Hill School. In addition to his role as the girls’ varsity basketball head coach, Simpson is also a Housemaster in Cleve House and teaches Chemistry.
Through House and Harkness, Lawrenceville challenges a diverse community of promising young people to lead lives of learning, integrity, and high purpose. Our mission is to inspire the best in each to seek the best for all.
